Every officer must

• Pass a physical fitness testThe job is physical. You have to be able to do it on your worst day, not your best.
• Pass a mental aptitude testA written assessment, similar in spirit to the ASVAB, because judgment matters as much as fitness.
• Certify on every tool you carryHandcuffs, OC spray, taser, firearm, and the rest of the duty load-out. We train in house, so willingness counts more than prior certification.
• Hold the required Illinois credentialsPERC card, valid FOID, and a Firearm Control Card for armed posts. We will walk you through the process.

Reaching Protector

Protectors are our advanced tier, and the standard steps up across the board: a higher physical fitness score, higher shooting qualifications, and advanced combat skills training. Officers earn the tier; it is not assigned.
